The
DVI KVM over IP
features EDID Management. Before the source can send video
(and/or audio) data, the source device (connected to each Sender unit) reads the EDID
(Extended Display Identification Data) from the displays which are connected to each
Receiver unit. The EDID contains information about what type of audio/video data can
be accepted from the source.
By default, the internal DVI EDID (stored in the Sender unit) is used. However, a
downstream EDID (from a display, etc) can be retrieved and stored in the Sender unit.
Storing a Downstream EDID
For this example, we will use our original set up. We are currently using the default DVI
EDID but now we want Display A to use the same EDID as Display B.
1. Access the Web interface for the Sender unit.
2. Make sure that the
Reset EDID to Default Value
is not checked. If the box is
checked, then uncheck the box and click the
Apply
button. Reboot the Sender unit
to save the changes.
