Problem
Reason
The Solution
The bakery produce has
been too wet.
Do not attempt to toast very wet food that
could splash or drip!
Give the heating process some more time. For this, you
may activate the “DEFROST” function, select a higher
browning, or select another program (see: ‘Operation /
Manual Operation’).
The bread slices are too
thick.
Cut your bread slices somewhat thinner. Do not toast any
pieces of bakery produce in the bread slits that are thi-
cker than 2.5 cm (1 inch). If required, use the bun tray.
Give the heating process some more time. For this, you
may activate the “DEFROST” function, select a higher
browning, or select another program (see: ‘Operation /
Manual Operation’).
The room temperature
is too low or there is a
strong draught.
With a very low temperature and/or draught in the envi-
ronment of the appliance, the heating elements may not
reach the required temperature. Ensure a minimum room
temperature of 15°C.
A heating element is
broken.
Immediately unplug the appliance. Get in contact with an
authorized service centre for examination and repair.
The start lever does not
spring to the idle position,
although the heating time
elapsed.
Bread sticks within the
bread slit.
Immediately unplug the appliance.
Ensure that the start lever and bread slices can always
move freely. Do not force any food into the bread slits.
Leave the appliance cool down completely. Then carefully
remove the bread (see: ‘Operation / Removing a Bread
Slice Sticking in a Bread Slit’).
A severe problem occur-
red.
Unplug the appliance. Get in contact with an authorised
service centre for examination and repair.
The start lever does not
engage in the lower ope-
rating position.
You did not push the start
lever down completely.
Push the start lever down to the stop.
The appliance is not live.
Ensure to connect the appliance to a sufficient power
supply.
A severe problem occur-

Unplug the appliance. Get in contact with an authorised
service centre for examination and repair.
CARE AND CLEANING
WARNING
– Always unplug the appliance and let it cool down, before
cleaning the appliance. Always ensure that all parts of the appliance are
out of
reach of children younger than 8 years and animals. Do not spill or pour any
liquids in or on the appliance or power cord. Do not place or immerse the
appliance or power cord in any liquids. DO NOT place the appliance or power
cord in an automatic dishwasher!
CAUTION
–
DO NOT poke in the bread slits.
Do not use abrasive clea-
ning agents or aggressive liquids (e.g. bleach, solvents) or any hard or sharp-
edged objects (e.g. scoring pads, knives, scrapers) for cleaning the appliance or
any part of it. Do not use violence.
1. Switch off (“CANCEL” button) and unplug the appliance. Let it cool down to
room temperature. At the rear, pull the crump tray(s) out of the bottom of the
appliance. Empty the crump tray and, if required, via a
dry
nylon brush remove
any crumbs that stick to the surfaces. Push the crumb tray(s) back into place.
NOTE
The »DESIGN TOASTER DIGITAL 4S« (4 bread slits) has 2 crumb trays.
2. Clean the exterior of the appliance and, if requied, the bun tray via a soft cloth
that is damped with a little dishwater. Ensure that the cloth will not drip. In the
same way, wipe with clear water.
3. Wipe dry and leave the parts dry naturally for approx. 30 minutes.
