STRAINER SCREEN MUST BE
CLEANED REGULARLY. USE SOLVENT
CLEANER AND SOFT BRUSH.
TO PREVENT CRUSHING SCREEN
FIRST INSERT STRAINER SCREEN INTO CAP
BEFORE REPLACING INTO VALVE BODY.
NOTE: REGULATOR HELD IN CLOSED POSITION
BY HEAD PRESSURE OF LIQUID IN OVERHEAD
STORAGE TANK.
CLOSED POSITION
THE PURPOSE OF THE MODEL 52 REGULATING VALVE IS TO
CONTROL THE FLOW OF PRODUCT THROUGH THE SUCTION ISLAND DISPENSER
WHEN INSTALLED WITH OVERHEAD STORAGE TANKS OR BOOSTER SYSTEMS.
OPERATION OF THE VALVE IS HYDRAULIC. THE PILOT VALVE
MUST BE OPEN BEFORE PRODUCT CAN FLOW THROUGH THE SUCTION ISLAND
DISPENSER.
LIQUID FLOW THROUGH STRAINER SCREEN
THE OPENING OF THE DISPENSING NOZZLE LEVER BY THE
OPERATOR OPENS THE PILOT VALVE AND UNBALANCES THE
PRESSURE IN THE TOP SIDE OF THE OPERATING PISTON
POPPET ASSEMBLY, WHICH IN TURN, OPENS THE MAIN VALVE
AND ALLOWS PRODUCT TO FLOW THROUGH THE SYSTEM.
THE MAIN VALVE OPENS ONLY ENOUGH TO ALLOW THE
AMOUNT OF PRODUCT REQUIRED BY THE DISPENSING NOZZLE
TO PASS THROUGH THE SUCTION ISLAND DISPENSER, THUS
PREVENTING THE AIR SEPARATOR FROM OVERFLOWING WHETHER
OR NOT THE SUCTION ISLAND DISPENSER IS IN OPERATION.
OPEN POSITION
THIS IS DUE TO THE DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE
CREATED ON THE OPERATING PISTON POPPET
ASSEMBLY BY THE NOZZLE. WHEN THE DISPENSING
NOZZLE IS CLOSED, THE PILOT VALVE WILL CLOSE AND
THE PRESSURE ON BOTH SIDES OF
THE OPERATING PISTON POPPET ASSEMBLY IS
EQUALIZED, WHICH ALLOWS THE MAIN VALVE TO
CLOSE AND STOP THE FLOW OF PRODUCT THROUGH
THE SYSTEM.

NOTE:
FOR A SINGLE DISPENSER INCOPORATING MODEL NO. 52 PRESSURE
REGULATOR VALVE, ALL PIPING MUST BE 1-1/2" MIN. FOR 100' OR LESS
BETWEEN TANK & SUCTION PUMP. OVER 100" BUT UNDER 300' USE 2" PIPE.
FOR ONE TWIN SINGLE PRODUCT SUCTION PUMP, ALL PIPING MUST BE 2"
MIN. FOR 100' OR LESS BETWEEN TANK & PUMPS. OVER 100' BUT UNDER 300'
USE 2-1/2" PIPE.
WARNING
ALL VALVES IN THE PIPING TO THE TOKHEIM MODEL 52 PRESSURE
REGULATOR MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH THERMAL EXPANSION RELIEF
VALVES.
SUCTION PUMP
