NOTES:
1. IF THE INSTALLATION DOES NOT INTEND TO TRANSMIT ADS-B INFORMATION, THEN NONE OF
THE CONNECTIONS ON THIS PAGE ARE NECESSARY. IF THE INSTALLATION DOES INTEND TO
TRANSMIT ADS-B INFORMATION, THEN EITHER A GNS 4XXW/5XXW-SERIES UNIT OR A GTN
6XX/7XX SERIES UNIT MUST BE USED TO SOURCE TSOA GPS DATA FOR ADS-B.
2. IF A GNS OR GTN IS USED TO SOURCE TSOA GPS DATA FOR ADS-B, THE GNS OR GTN MUST BE
CONFIGURED FOR THIS SETUP. PLEASE SEE FOLLOWING CONFIGURATION GUIDANCE.
3. ALL WIRES 24 AWG OR LARGER UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
4. THE GTX23 REQUIRES THAT RS-232 INPUT #2 BE USED FOR TSOA GPS DATA, BUT ANY UNUSED
RS-232 OUTPUT ON THE GNS OR GTN MAY BE USED.
ADS-B Setup
In order to be ADS-B compliant, the GTX 23 must receive TSOA GPS data from a GTN 6XX/7XX or GNS
4XXW/5XXW-series unit. If a GNS is used, it must have main soware 3.20 or later.
Direcons for seng up a GTN to provide GPS data:
- Following direcons in the GTN installaon manual, go to the RS-232 configuraon page. Configure
the RS-232 output connected to the GTX to the “ADS-B” format. Configure the corresponding RS-
232 input, which is not connected to the GTX23, to “Off.
Direcons for seng up a GNS 4XXW/5XXW-series unit to provide GPS data:
- Following direcons in the GNS installaon manual, go to the RS-232 configuraon page. Configure
the RS-232 output connected to the GTX to the “ADS-B OUT” format.
