Approaches, Departures, & Arrivals
The 400W-series unit allows you to fly non-preci-
sion and precision approaches to airports with pub-
lished instrument approach procedures. All available
approaches are stored on your Jeppesen NavData
® card,
and are automatically updated when you replace the
card with a new one. Subscription information for Nav-
Data cards is included in your 400W-series package.
The Procedures Page is displayed by pressing the
PROC key. The Procedures Page provides direct access
to approaches, departures and arrivals — based upon
the active flight plan or direct-to destination. In either
case, the departure and destination airports must have
published procedures associated with them.
To select an approach, departure or arrival:
1. Press the
PROC
key to dsplay the procedures page.
2. Turn the
large right
knob to hghlght “Select
Approach?”, “Select Departure?” or “Select
Arrval?” and press
ENT
.
3. A wndow wll appear lstng the avalable pro-
cedures. Turn the large right knob to hghlght
the desred procedure and press ENT . (When
a drect-to destnaton s selected, departures
are offered for the nearest arport.)
4. A second wndow wll appear lstng the aval-
able transtons. Turn the large right knob to
hghlght the desred transton waypont and
press
ENT . (The approach “Vectors” opton
assumes you wll receve vectors to the final
course segment of the approach and wll pro-
vde navgaton gudance relatve to the final
approach course.)
5. Turn the large right knob to hghlght “Load?”
or “Actvate?” (approaches only) and press
ENT
. “Load?” wll add the procedure to the
flght plan wthout mmedately usng t for nav-
gaton gudance. Ths allows you to contnue
navgatng the orgnal flght plan, but keeps
the procedure avalable on the actve flght plan
page for quck actvaton when needed to later
actvate a departure or arrval.
6. For precson approaches and some non-
precson approaches, a remnder wndow
wll appear ndcatng that GPS gudance on
such approaches s strctly for montorng only
— use the VLOC recevers and external CDI
(or HSI) for prmary navgaton. To confrm ths
remnder, hghlght “Yes?” and press
ENT
