• No high or low temperature* alarms
*If the compressor is on, then the process control tem-
perature must drop below the process control tempera-
ture set point before the compressor will turn off. If the
compressor is off, then the process control tempera-
ture must rise above the set point before the compres-
sor will turn on.
Percent Savings LED
Calculation of savings realized with energy saver design
compared to direct expansion design. These savings are
expressed in percent of compressor on time to dryer on
time. This mode is display only. No adjustments can be
made.
High Pressure “HiP” Alarm
A high pressure alarm occurs if the high pressure switch
opens and the display shows “HiP.” During this condition,
the compressor will shut down. The dryer cannot be re-
started until this switch is manually reset.
To reset the high pressure switch:
1.
Shutdown the dryer per the Shutdown procedure on
page 1-11.
2.
Remove the dryer front panel.
3.
Press the “Manual Reset” switch near the electrical
enclosure.
4.
Replace the dryer front panel.
5.
Restart the dryer according to the Start-up proce-
dure.
If this alarm cannot be reset or occurs frequently, consult
your local Deltech representative before servicing the dryer.
AUTOMATIC DRAIN VALVES (ADVs)
Energy Saving Cycling dryers are equipped with an elec-
tronic-timer controlled drain valve (ADV) that automatically
discharges condensate from the dryer. Controls for the dryer
drain valve are on the Controller Membrane Panel.
All models are equipped with a strainer/isolation valve ahead
of the drain valve on the separator. The strainer prevents
large particles from entering the valve. The isolation valve
allows servicing of the strainer and valve without shutting
the dryer down.
The ADV has two LED indicators and a test button to help
verify operation. Pushing the test button causes the drain
port to click open. One LED indicates that power is sup-
plied to the ADV; the other LED indicates that the drain port
is open. The power indicator turns off when the drain port
opens. If either LED fails to turn on at the proper time, refer
to the Maintenance section of this manual. If the dryer is
under warranty, call your local distributor for authorization
before servicing.
To minimize air losses, set the timer so that only air dis-
charges at the end of the open period. Recommended ini-
tial settings are a 3-second drain on time and a 4-minute
drain off time. If air discharges for more than one second,
set the timer for a longer cycle or a shorter opening. If liq-
uid discharges as the port is closing, set the timer for a
shorter cycle or a longer opening.
START-UP
Once the dryer has been installed according to instructions,
it is ready to be operated. The system is fully automatic
and does not require any auxiliary controls. It is designed
to run continuously.
Dryers with Energy Management Controller
To start the dryer:
Do not start dryer with compressed air flow through the
dryer. Close dryer isolation valves until start-up procedure
is complete.
1.
Supply power to the dryer and disengage Emergency
Stop button. The Power On LED will light indicating
power to the controller. The crankcase heater warmup
will begin (the display will show the number of minutes
remaining in the warmup period). This warmup period
is essential to allow the compressor oil to warm and
boil off liquid refrigerant, preventing compressor fail-
ure. The warmup will be skipped only if the dryer was
started previously and supply power has been off for
less than 60 minutes.
NOTE
The Dryer On LED will blink if the START button is
pressed before the end of the warm-up period.
2.
During the warm-up period, review the INSTALLA-
TION instructions to make sure the dryer has been
properly installed.
3.
If the dryer is water-cooled, open water supply lines.
4.
After the warm-up period, push the START button.
The Start button energizes the controller for normal
operation.
Immediately after pushing the START button, the Dryer
On LED will light, the condensate drain valve will open,
and the Drain Open LED will turn on.
If the dryer does not operate normally as indicated
above:
• Verify power is supplied to the dryer.
• Verify voltage supplied to the dryer matches the volt-
age stamped on the dryer data plate.
• Check customer-supplied circuit breakers for fuses.
Replace as required.
