Safety

14

− Stop the motor, unplug the spark plug, and make sure all moving parts

have come to a complete stop:

− before loosening or removing blockages or obstructions from the

grass discharger.

− before checking, cleaning or servicing the lawn mower.

− before filling up the tank.

− When handling the cutting blade, for example, when carrying out main-

tenance, make sure that the cutting blade can be moved, even when the

lawn mower’s motor is not on. You could get your fingers caught or injure

yourself.

− Do not use the lawn mower for trimming shrubs or hedges or as a chopper

for chopping up trees and shrubs, or for removing uneven terrain in the

ground, such as molehills.

− Never put hands or feet on or under rotating parts.

− Wear sturdy shoes with a non-slip tread and tight, long trousers. Do not

operate the lawn mower barefooted or in light sandals. Avoid wearing

loose clothing or clothes with dangling strings or ties.

− Start or operate the pull starter with care, in accordance with the manu-

facturer’s instructions. Make sure there is sufficient distance between the

feet and cutting blade.

− Do not tilt the lawn mower when starting the motor.

− Never lift or carry the lawn mower when the motor is running.

− Do not mow the lawn when it is wet. There is a risk of slipping, grass clog-

ging up the grass catcher bag, and the cutting result could be messy.

− Only mow during daylight or with good artificial lighting.

− Check the terrain where you are using the lawn mower: Remove branches,

stones, fallen fruit and other foreign objects, including molehills from the

lawn, so they do not get caught in the lawn mower, aren’t tossed around or

damage the lawn mower.

− Make sure that the cutting blade does not come into contact with the

ground when cutting on uneven terrain.

− Only walk when pushing the lawn mower.

− Be extra cautious when you turn the lawn mower around or pull it towards

you.

− Always make sure you have a good stance when mowing sloped terrain.
