Disassembly

1.
Disconnect the mains plug!

2. Keep the cutting head (a) in
a fixed position and open the
cutting head cover (b) by turn-
ing clockwise as shown in
illustration D.
3. Remove the reel (c).
Remove any remaining string.
Note
(ill. E):
If the pressure spring is loose (d)
you can fix it in the reel (c) to
facilitate assembly. For this insert
the pressure spring (d) into the
reel (c) and secure by turning
clockwise.
Assembly
(ill. C / E / F / G)
1. Introduce the replacement
string (6 m) into the slit of the
partition of the reel so that
two equal lengths (3 m each)
hang out (ill. E).
2. Wind first the upper string (a),
then the lower string (b) clock-
wise onto the reel.
Note:
Wind both strings evenly
and firmly. Fix approx. 10 cm
of each of the string ends in the
slits

each other according to ill. F.
3. Thread the string ends out-
wards through the eyelets of
the cutting head (a) (ill. G).
Note:
When inserting the
string ends, make sure that the
slits with the fixed strings are
exactly behind the eyelets.
4. Insert the reel and pull both
string ends at the same time
until they have noticeably
come out of the slits.
5. (ill. G) Press the reel (c) down
onto the spring (d) and secure
the cutting head cover (b) by
turning anticlockwise
until it
stops.
6. (ill. C) To check for proper func-
tion depress the cutting head

and pull both string
ends at the same time. If the
unit operates properly both
strings will lengthen. If the
cutting strings are too long,
they will be automatically ad-
justed to the correct length
by the string limiter blade

the defective unit together with
a short description of the problem
and, if covered under guarantee,
with a copy of the receipt, directly
to one of the GARDENA Service
Centres listed on the back of
this leaflet.
We expressly point out that,
in accordance with the product

units if it is due to improper
repair or if parts exchanged are
not original GARDENA parts
or parts approved by us, and,
if the repairs were not carried
out by a GARDENA Service
Centre or an authorised spe-
cialist. The same applies to
spare parts and accessories.
