Use and Maintenance Manual – Pressure-sensitive bumpers type GSBPS
23/35
The mounting surface should be suitable for the sensor you intend to use. If mounting surface is not
sufficiently rigid, or if it exhibits irregularities, this can adversely affect the sensitivity and reliability of the
device. If the sensor repeatedly or regularly comes into contact with a surface, try to avoid contact with
sharp angles or irregularities which could result in damage. Connecting cables, tubes, etc.. between the
sensor and the control unit should be designed, located and fastened in such a way to ensure that:
a) They are capable of withstanding the design conditions;
b) They are protected against any mechanical damage;
c) They are properly secured, at least at each end so to avoid any stress on the
connections .
Sensors can be mounted onto the fixed or mobile part of the machine, for example an automatic door.
It should not be possible to insert a part of the human body between the sensor and the surface onto which it
is mounted (e.g. a moving machine with a “skirted” sensor or a pressure-sensitive plate into which hand
could be entrapped. If this risk exists, an additional guard is to be provided
.
