The RS-232 port, consists of an RJ11 connector which provides a standard serial port for the
connection to a Listed output device for supplementary type service. Typical examples of such
devices include any UL Listed EDP device (remote printer or video terminal), any UL Listed
Signaling Device (such as the Keltron VS4095/5 printer), or any UL Listed Signal System Unit.
Table 1.5.1 lists the connections to the RJ11 serial connector:

CAUTION:
Terminal TB4 must be connected to an earth ground connection per Article 760 of the
National Electrical Code. Failure to make a proper earth ground connection to a metallic cold
water pipe or driven ground rod to this terminal will result in loss of lightening protection, reduce
the tolerance of the system to transients, and will adversely affect the operation of the system.
Panel neutral or conduit ground is not acceptable; minimum wire size is 14 AWG.
