IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE
SMARTSTART is enabled with a very high volume buzzer for event starts. Prior to using SMARTSTART with you
athletes, please familiarize yourself with the unit volume and be careful to place it at an appropriate distance
from your athletes, as you would do with any type of athletics start gun or horn. If used in close proximity to
your athletes, it is recommended that you do not aim the unit buzzer directly towards your athletes or
spectators.
PREPARING YOUR SYSTEM FOR USE WITH SMARTSTART
Like your SMARTSPEED or SMARTSPEED Lite units, SMARTSTART units are wireless and come pre-
programmed with their own unique unit ID. The IDs used for SMARTSTART units are higher than for
other gates (usually equal to or greater than 10), and you need to ensure that your system settings
permit units of this high ID.
In order to ensure that you system is ready, please follow these simple steps –
Start SMARTSPEED software on PDA Go to Options - General Set the “Max ID” to include your
SMARTSTART unit ID (16 is usually sufficient). Press “Apply” and return to the main screen.
Your SMARTSTART unit is now ready to use. Please ensure the unit is charged prior to use.
