Chord types
There are the following basic chord types:
Major
A major third and a perfect fifth are added
to a root.
Minor
A minor third and a perfect fifth are added
to a root.
Excessive
A major third and an augmented fifth are
added to a root.
Decreases
A minor third and a diminished fifth are
added to a root.
Chord inversion
We define a chord whose root is not in the bass (i.e. is not the lowest note) as an inversion.
If the root is in the bass, we call the chord: root chord. If we put the third or the fifth in the
root position, we get an "inversion", See the following major chords and their inversions.

Chord name
The chord name is made up of two parts. These are root and chord gender.
