Li-ion cylindrical rechargeable battery
4. Appearance
There shall be no such defect as deep scratch, flaw, crack, rust, leakage, which may adversely affect commercial
value of the cell.
5. Test condition and definitions
5.1 Measuring equipment
5.1.1
Slide caliper:
The slide caliper should have a scale of 0.02mm.
5.1.2
Voltage-Impedance meter:
The impedance meter should be operated at AC 1kHz.
5.2
Unless otherwise specified, all tests shall be performed at 25±2°C and humidity of 65±20% RH.
The cells used for the test mentioned should be new ones delivered a week before at most.
5.3 Definitions
C Rate (“C”): The rate (milliamperes) at which a fully charged cell is discharged to its end voltage in one (1) hour.
6. Characteristics
6.1 Charge method
6.1.1
Charging shall consist of charging at a 0.2C constant current rate until the cell voltage reaches 4.2V. The
cell shall then be charged at constant voltage of 4.2V while tapering the charge current. Charging shall
be terminated when the charging current has tapered to 0.02C.
6.1.2
Charging shall consist of charging at a 0.3C constant current rate until the cell voltage reaches 4.2V. The
cell shall then be charged at constant voltage of 4.2V while tapering the charge current. Charging shall
be terminated when the charging current has tapered to 0.05C.
6.2 Discharge method
6.2.1
Cells shall be discharged at a constant current of 0.2C to 2.5 volts.
6.2.2
Cells shall be discharged at a constant current of 0.5C to 2.5 volts.
6.2.3
Cells shall be discharged at a constant current of 1.0C to 2.5 volts.
6.2.4
Cells shall be discharged at a constant current of 2.0C to 2.5 volts.
6.3 Internal impedance
The impedance shall be measured by 5.1.2.
Initial Internal Impedance ≤ 35mΩ.
6.4 Discharge rate characteristics
Cells shall be charged per standard charge method at 25ºC±2ºC and discharged per 6.2.1(0.2C), 6.2.2 (0.5C),
6.2.3 (1C), 6.2.4 (2C). The discharge capacity of each cell at respective discharge rate shall be compared with
the discharge capacity at 0.2C and the percentage shall be calculated. Each cell shall meet or exceed the
requirements of Table 1.
