Troubleshooting
The power indicator of HBX-800 lights red.
Cause : HBX-800 is defective.
Solution : Cease using the equipment and contact your nearest service representative to repair
the HBX-800.
<BISx Disconnected> is displayed.
Cause 1 : BISx is disconnected.
Solution : Connect the BISx and verify all cable connections.
Cause 2 : BISx cable is defective.
Solution : Inspect/repair cable at connector end.
Cause 3 : BISx is defective.
Solution : Replace the BISx.
Cause 4 : Patient monitor is defective.
Solution : Replace the patient monitor.
<BIS High Impedance, Check Sensor> is displayed.
Cause 1 : Sensor is not fully in contact with patient's skin.
Solution : Attach the electrode firmly to patient's skin.
Cause 2 : Sensor application is incorrect.
Solution : Read Instructions on sensor package to ensure correct sensor placement.
Cause 3 : Patient interface cable is defective.
Solution : Replace the patient interface cable.
Cause 4 : BISx is defective.
Solution : Replace the BISx.
<BIS Sensor Disconnected> is displayed.
Cause 1 : Sensor is disconnected.
Solution : Connect the sensor.
Cause 2 : Poor or contaminated connection between the sensor and patient interface cable.
Solution : Connect/clean connection between the sensor and patient interface cable.
Cause 3 : Patient interface cable is disconnected.
Solution : Connect the patient interface cable.
Cause 4 : Patient interface cable is defective.
Solution : Replace the patient interface cable.
Cause 5 : BISx is defective.
Solution : Replace the BISx.
<BIS Perform "Sensor Check"> is displayed.
Cause 1 : At least one element of sensor has too high impedance, and "Sensor Check" window is
closed before sensor check completes.
Solution : Press the "Sensor Check" key to start the sensor check process and ensure that
<PASS> is displayed.
