Chapter 2 Installation

Time Setting

2.5 Time Setting

It is strongly recommended that the date and time be set before configuring other switch settings. The date and time are not
set at the factory.

Please refer to the following command sequence for setting the date and time manually using a console or telnet session.

Command

Precautions

If the power switch is left turned off for 72 hours or more, information about the date and time is lost.

When setting time and date to be "Jan 1, 2011 12:30:00am" type in command
# date 2012/01/01.12:30:00
XG0440DC# configure

Switch to Configuration mode.

XG0440DC(config)# time zone -0500

When setting time zone to be "-0500".

XG0440DC(config)# commit

Apply the configuration.

XG0440DC(config)# save

Save the configuration.

XG0440DC(config)# exit

Switch to Operation mode.

XG0440DC# date 2011/01/01.12:30:00

Set time and date to be "Jan 1, 2012 12:30:00am".
