Chapter 2 Installation

Installation of the switch

31

Install the switch in a 19” rack

The switch can be installed and operated in the EIA standard 19" rack.

Prepare the following rack mounting components attached.

Rack Mounting Rails (1 set): Rails for mounting the switch in a rack.

M6 Countersunk Screws (Qty 4)

M6 Machine Screws (Qty 6)

Precautions

• Please locate the switch near the electrical outlet to which the power cable will be connected and allow sufficient

space for the power cable to be pulled out easily.

• Check that the ambient air temperature inside and outside of the rack is within the specified operating temperature

range of the switch.

• Check that airflow in and out of the switch is unobstructed.
• Ensure physical stability of the whole rack when the switch is installed.
• Check that the capacity of the power source to the switch is sufficient for safe operation.
• Ensure a good electrical ground connection exists before connecting power to the switch. Assure power sourcing

and leakage current carrying capabilities of the power source are not exceeded.
The maximum current leakage for the switch is 3.5 mA.

Installation procedure is described below.

1.

Fasten the rack mounting rails to the rack posts.

Loosen the M4 screws fastened to the rail brackets and adjust the length of the rails for the depth of the rack, Position the
rails within the rack one at a time and fasten to the rack with the M6 screws provided.
Use two M6 screws at each end of the rails. . Once the rails are installed in the rack, tighten the M4 screws.
