Chapter 5. TROBLESHOOTING

If a problem occurs, check the following items before contacting the manufacturer’s
authorized service center.

Symptoms

turned on.

Is the AC adapter connected
correctly?

Connect the AC adapter correctly.

Disconnect AC adapter and turn off
the scanner. Connect power cable and
power the scanner turned on again. If
the power still does not turned on,
contact the manufacturer’s authorized
service center or the distributor from
which you purchased your scanner.

Read operation is not
started.

Are the documents loaded
correctly on the ADF paper
chute?

Load the documents in the ADF
properly.

Is the ADF completely
closed?

Completely close the ADF.

Is the interface cable
connected correctly?

Connect the interface cable correctly.

Picture and
photograph image
quality is not good.

Is halftone processing
selected?

Select the halftone mode from the
driver screen.

Are the Flatbed and ADF
dirty?

Follow the procedure described in
section 4.3 to clean.

Character and line
quality is not good.

Is halftone processing

Select “Binary” mode at the driver
screen.

Are the Flatbed and ADF
dirty?

Follow the procedure described in

Images are distorted
