5.2 Console switch
The monitor, keyboard and mouse port of the integrated rack console are connected to the corresponding ports on
the integrated units (Management Unit, Server Unit x86, HNC, and Application Unit) and thus attached to one of
them.
By default, the rack console is attached to the first Management Unit.
The console switch is usually a digital 8- or 16-port KVM switch. The KVM switch is integrated into the rack in a
vertical position and therefore does not require a height unit.
In the maximum configuration, 5 KVM ports (2 x MU and 3 x SU x86) are occupied in the SE x86, and 8 KVM ports
(2 x MU, 4 x HNC and 2 x SU x86) in the SE /390, additional AUs where required. If more AUs are to be integrated
into the SE server, the KVM switch can be replaced with a different KVM switch with 16 or 32 ports. In this case,
please contact your sales representative.
