Installing and removing drives
The PC casing can accommodate a total of five drives:
•
three accessible drives
(two 5 1/4 inch drives and one 3 1/2 inch drive)
•
two inaccessible drives
(two 3 1/2 inch drives)
"Accessible drives" are e.g. floppy disk or CD ROM drives, into which a data carrier can be inserted
from outside. Non-accessible drives are e.g. hard disk drives.
In PCs with a Pentium 4 processor the lower 5 1/4-inch bay is suitable only for slimline drives.
If you want to install an accessible 3 1/2 inch drive or an inaccessible drive, you must remove the
drive cage to do so. Additional information can be found in "Installing and removing the drive cage"
section.
IDE drives
Four IDE drives are supported as standard equipment. Ideally, hard disks are connected to IDE
interface 1 and other drives to IDE interface 2 (see also the technical manual for the mainboard).
