Before commissioning

General

Proper use

The operating company must incorporate the device into a higher-level safety system if the
installation location is within a secured area that has to be accessed when setup and main-
tenance work is carried out. In this case measures must be implemented to ensure that the
entire system is switched off for the duration of the work in this area and that it is prevented
from starting up again accidentally as the result, for example, of a control fault.

The spot welding gun is designed exclusively for automated resistance welding. Any use
above and beyond this purpose is deemed improper. The manufacturer shall not be held
liable for any damage arising from such usage.

Utilisation in accordance with proper use also comprises
-

complying with all the instructions in the operating instructions

-

carrying out all the specified inspection and servicing work (see "Care, maintenance
and disposal")

Setup regulations

Mains connection

The devices are designed to run at the mains voltage specified on the rating plate. The fuse
protection required for the mains lead can be found in the "Technical data" section. If there
is no mains cable or mains plug on your device, fit one that conforms to national standards.

Guidelines for
system cooling

The cooling liquid supply, the purity of the coolant and the differential pressure in the cool-
ing water system must always be checked before you start the welding system.

WARNING!

Machines that start up automatically can cause serious injury and

damage. In addition to these operating instructions, the safety rules issued by the
manufacturer of the robot and welding systems must also be observed. For your
personal safety, ensure that all protective measures have been taken and will re-
main in place for the duration of your stay within the working area of the robot.

WARNING!

If one of these devices falls or topples over, it could cause serious or

even fatal injury. Make sure that all components are installed and secured cor-
rectly.

NOTE!

The installation of resistance welding system components is the respon-

sibility of the system builder. Ensure that
-

all connections are connected properly

-

all screw fastenings are securely fixed

The manufacturer shall not be liable for any damage caused as a result of incor-
rect assembly of the welding gun.

NOTE!

An inadequately dimensioned electrical installation can cause serious

damage. The incoming mains lead and its fuse must be dimensioned to suit the
inverter being used. The technical data shown on the rating plate applies.

CAUTION!

Danger of burns from hot coolant. Do not check coolant until it has

cooled down.
