3.3 Useful Tips for Internet Telephony with
FRITZ!Box Fon
Important for Every Configuration
If you use FRITZ!Box Fon for Internet telephony, disable the
“Clear Internet connection automatically” option to prevent a
connection from being cleared during a call over the Internet.

automatically” function, see the Online Help of the FRITZ!Box
Fon window.
Call Scenarios
If you have configured an Internet number for FRITZ!Box Fon
in addition to your fixed-line number, you can make and re-
ceive calls using either method.
With a fully configured FRITZ!Box Fon you can establish tele-
phone connections as follows:
z
using a fixed-line connection to a fixed-line number
z
using an Internet connection to a fixed-line number
z
using an Internet connection to an Internet number
With a fully configured FRITZ!Box Fon you can receive tele-
phone calls as follows:
z
on your fixed-line number from the fixed-line network
z
on your fixed-line number from Internet
z
on your Internet number from Internet

Bandwidth Management with FRITZ!Box Fon
FRITZ!Box Fon is equipped with integrated bandwidth man-
agement. This function controls all incoming and outgoing
data traffic over DSL and ensures that telephone connec-
tions over the Internet are not affected by surfing. FRITZ!Box
Fon performs this task by adapting all uploads and
