Man overboard – risk of falling overboard
GENERAL
The Fountaine Pajot Lucia 40 is a powerful ship that can release enormous energy while driving. It may therefore only
be operated by suitably trained and experienced persons. Do not leave unreliable persons or children in the boat
without supervision.
➤
Always switch off engines at main switch, if not be used.
➤
Familiarize all crew members with the special characteristics of the drive system, the technical systems and above
all their dangers.
➤
Do not step on the trampoline net and the cabin roof, especially the glazed areas while driving!
➤
You are exposed to stronger accelerations on the foredeck than in the cockpit. Always ensure sufficient stability and
hold on tight.
➤
There are moving parts on the motor and drive! Avoid contact at all costs. There is a risk of injury!
The work deck is a safe working area on the boat at all times. Areas outside of the working deck should only be used
for mooring during boarding and boarding and in the port.
The working deck is limited to the side deck, the foredeck and the cockpit floor. The trampoline and the cabin roof are
expressly not part of the working deck area, and the deck hatches are also excluded from the work area.
Most boardwalk accidents happen due to increased slip hazard on board and during boarding. Wet decks can be
extremely slippery. Always wear non-slip shoes.
The limited space on board, the dynamics on the water and the unfamiliar environment make special demands on
the behavior of the people on board. Basically, all persons on board are obliged to comply with the orders of the boat
operator without restriction. Everyone on board should always adhere to the following commandment:
“One hand for the ship and the other for you”
So always hold on to suitable handrails etc. with one hand. In addition, every person on board should always wear
suitable clothing and sturdy, non-slip footwear for safety reasons. To protect against hypothermia one should always
have sufficient dry clothing on board to be carried along.
Man overboard or other emergency procedures.
Should you nevertheless get into an emergency, prudent and thoughtful action is appropriate. First, reassure your
passengers and give clear and understandable instructions as to who has to take over which task. First and foremost,
call for appropriate help over the radio or over the phone in good time, even if you and your passengers try to master
the emergency situation with on-board resources. Always use the internationally accepted procedures and methods for
emergency and help calls. Provide rescue equipment in good time and have it created, or keep it ready for use.
Leave the boat only in extreme emergency.
