ENGLISH

Procedure for machine firing:

1. Run engine and turn off diesel valve

(at the tank – rear port cabin under the bed)

2. At neutral, apply full throttle

 

until the engine stops and at the same time:

3. Using the 

fire extinguisher in the engine compartment

 spray through the hole in the 

bed box from the cabins. 

Never open the engine compartment

, otherwise it would pene-

trate oxygen and further fuel the fire, it can lead to deflagration.

In any fire case the base must be informed immediately!

FIRE ON BOARD / FIRE EXTINGUISHER

One of the biggest and underestimated dangers is the fire on a ship. Unlike on land, there are comparatively difficult 
escape options and danger of sinking for the ship.

Be sure to avoid any open fire and flames!
Therefore, smoking is strictly prohibited

 and allowed only outdoors.

The biggest sources of danger on board include the cooker in the pantry  
and the engine compartments.

If – despite all precautions on board – a fire breaks out, you have several fire extinguishers.  

You will find an overview on page 81.
