Custom Probe Test Cables and Electrical
Simulation Cables
Introduction
This Appendix explains how to make custom probe adapter cables and electrical
simulation cables to be used with your Index 2MFE.
Making Probe Test Cables
Index 2MFE can be used to test probes using custom probe adapter cables.
Figure G-1 shows a typical oximeter probe. It consists of two LEDs and one photodiode.
In addition, it may also contain an LED spectrum characterizing resistor or two. Some of
the wires may be shielded.
Typical probe failure modes are:
•
Wires open or shorted to other wires
•
Diodes open or shorted
•
Resistors, if present, open or shorted to other leads
•
Leads shorted to shields and/or other leads
