RNR: AUTO DEPTH STOP INSTUCTIONS
1. Setting the depth of the Auto Depth Stop feature (if equipped) on your FlexArm.
a. Install the tap holder along with the tap into the quick-change chuck of the motor
b. Gently place the end of the tap on a flat portion of the work surface.
c. Place a gauge block that is the equivalent thickness to the desired thread depth on the work
surface under the depth stop rod.
d. Loosen the adjustment knob as shown in
Figure 15
and slowly lower the sensor rod to the
gauge block until the air solenoid energizes the reverse button. Secure the position by
tightening the adjustment knob.
2. Make sure the plunger at the end of the rod is hitting a flat solid surface each time in order to get
accurate results.
3. Adjust the time delay on the air valve at the top of the depth sensor so that the depth stop has
sufficient amount of time to start the reversing action before the operator takes over and holds the
reverse button in and the tap is clear of the hole.
4. The depth stop is designed to initially reverse the motor. Then the operator must manually maintain
the reverse direction of the motor by depressing the reverse button until the tap is completely clear of
the taped hole. Do not set the time delay too long or it will interfere with the tapping of the next hole.
5. Tap a hole and check the depth. Fine adjust the sensor rod may be needed to obtain the required
depth.
