If  no  variables  (data  fields)  are  defined  on  the  displayed
page,  the  communication  will  not  start  at  all.  In  this  case,
the  LED  does  not  flash.  In  the  system  menu  the  message
"PLC  ...  COMM  OFF  00"  can  be  found.

See chapter 4.1 on how to call the system menu.
