The calibration menu option in the software also includes a tab for Hardware Diagnostics. This
tool can be used to run simple test cases on your instrument to identify and diagnose potential
hardware issues. There are three automated test cases, Checking Sensor Signals, Checking
Ambient Measurement, and Checking Calibration Parameters.
To run diagnostics on your instrument, make sure you are in a setting where your instrument
can draw clean, ambient air. Navigate to the main menu screen and highlight the Measure
menu option. Then, in the software, press the ‘Start’ button. The diagnostics will automatically
initiate a continuous measurement to run the standardized tests on the sensors.
Checking Sensor Signals will check each of the raw sensor signals on your device. Each of
these values are tested against typical raw sensor signals when drawing ambient air. At the
completion of the test, the number of errors found will be reported. If an error is encountered, a
recommended action will be suggested. In the case of the raw sensor signal, the diagnoses of
an error will result in the recommendation of checking and possibly replacing the sensor. Please
contact the Felix Support team if this action is recommended.
Checking Ambient Measurements is the second diagnostic test. The test checks the reported
concentrations of the device while measuring ambient air against typical ambient air gas
concentrations. In the case of the F-900, the reported concentrations must fall within the
specified ranges reported below.
