Wiring the Allegiant Light Bar
8.
To avoid interference, keep two-way radio antennas a minimum of 18 inches
(45.7 cm) away from warning equipment.
9.
Whenever possible, run full wire lengths. DO NOT splice the wires.
10.
Do not coil excess wire. Leave a drain loop for servicing.
DRILLING PRECAUTIONS: Before drilling holes, check the area into which
you plan to drill to ensure that you do not damage vehicle components. All
drilled holes should be deburred, and all sharp edges should be smoothed.
Additionally, all exterior drilled holes must be sealed with Motorcraft seam
sealer T-A-2-B or equivalent to prevent the potential exposure to carbon
monoxide or other potentially harmful fumes. Failure to observe this warning
could cause serious injury or death.
11.
When you frame-ground the equipment, use the manufacturer-supplied ground
locations in the vehicle. Ensure that this manufacturer-supplied ground location is
bare metal to provide proper grounding.
IMPORTANT:
After the installation, frequently inspect the light bar and mounting feet
to ensure that all fasteners and brackets are tight.
Wiring the Stop/Turn/Tail Lights
The light bar’s stop/turn/tail lights are a factory-configured option. The light bar is
shipped with the option’s three-conductor cable ready for splicing into the vehicle
harness.
BATTERY EXPLOSION: To avoid a battery explosion, always disconnect the
negative battery cable first and reconnect it last. Avoid causing a spark when
connecting near or to the battery. The gases produced by a battery can cause
a battery explosion that could result in vehicle damage and serious injury.
Before splicing into the vehicle's harness to install the Stop/Turn/Tail Lights, refer
to the vehicle manufacturer's wiring diagram to follow mandated safety functions in
order to keep proper vehicle operation.
After mounting and wiring the light bar to the vehicle, follow these steps to wire the
light bar’s stop/turn/tail lights:
1.
Disconnect the vehicle battery’s negative ground cable and then the positive
cable.
2.
Locate the three-conductor cable exiting the light bar with red, black, and green
wires.
NOTE:
If installing the option in a vehicle that has its turn signal lights separate
from its brake lights, you must purchase a tail light converter.
