b.  Place the rear of the Model 300SA housing against the mounting surface. Use the two 

mounting holes at the rear of the housing as a template, and scribe positioning marks on 
the mounting surface.

c.  Secure the unit to the mounting surface with the appropriate user-supplied hardware.
d.  Seal all holes and conduit fitting threads with Teflon tape or other sealing materials.

3.  Electrical Connections (see figure 2)

NOTE

It is recommended that all electrical connections be made in accordance with National Electrical 

Code Article 725.

It is recommended that all wiring to the 300SA be routed through the entrance hole in the 
bottom of the unit.

b.  Connect a twisted pair audio cable having AWG 18 or AWG 22 conductors from the SIG. 

OUT and COM terminals, on the SelecTone Command unit to TB1-3 and TB1-4, respec-
tively on the 300SA. Polarity of the signal lines must be observed.

c.  Using #18 AWG wire, connect the speaker wire to TB1-5 and TB1-6. Continue to run two 

#18 AWG leads between each loudspeaker in the system- essentially wiring the units in 
parallel. Use wire nuts over the connections. Polarity is unimportant.

4.  Adjustments

A gain control (R3), located on the PC board (Figure 3), can be used to set the level of tone 
and voice communication reproduced by the group of+ loudspeakers driven by a Model 
300SA.

E.  Service

The Federal Signal factory will service your equipment or provide technical assistance with 
any problems that cannot be handled locally.

Any units returned to Federal Signal for service, inspections, or repair must be accompanied 
by a Return Material Authorization. This R.M.A. can be obtained from the local Distributor or 
Manufacturer’s Representative.

At this time a brief explanation of the service requested, or the nature of the malfunction 
should be provided.
