• Specify the location of the charts by selecting the location of the ENC_ROOT folder. This will be the

folder which has all of the charts.

• Specify a name to use for the database in the "Import to Database Name" text box. This will be the

name of the resulting C-MAP database.

• Choose a destination folder for the converted charts to be stored in.

Using S-63 charts require a few extra steps in addition to the ones above.

• The charts must be encrypted using a unique UserPermit which is obtained from FarSounder. This

UserPermit must be provided to your chart providers and is used by them for encryption purposes.

• Next,  add  the  permits.  To  do  so  use  the  "Manage  Permits"  button  which  will  launch  the  "Manage

Permits" dialog.

Figure 28. Manage Permits

• Listed here will be the information about previously added permits, as well as the option to add/delete

permits. Select "Add permits" and add the corresponding permits for the S-63 charts.

• Click "Re-authenticate Permits" to verify the applied permits are valid for the imported charts

• If this is the first time using this application a SA Certificate must be added. Click the "Add SA Certificate"

button.

Figure 29. Add the SA Certificate

• Click "Install Certificate" and locate the SA Certificate. This file should come with the charts and should

be called "IHO.crt"

• Lastly,  click  the  "Import"  button  to  import  the  charts.  This  can  take  a  couple  of  minutes  to  a  couple

hours depending on how many charts are being converted. Once this is finished the charts will be able
to be used just like any other C-MAP database. This database will show up in the "Chart Manager"
shown in Figure 21.

Bridge Integration

There are three primary methods of integrating FarSounder sonars into a vessel's bridge: video matrix, thin
client and ECDIS/ECS.
