Installing Insight Teacher
The Insight file (
faronics_teacher.dmg/ faronics_student.dmg
) is small enough that it can be copied to
a flash drive from the product CD. Insight can also be unzipped directly to a flash drive or any shared
location on a network and installed from there.
To install Insight Teacher
1. Copy faronics_teacher.dmg to the Mac teacher computer
2. Double click on faronics_teacher.dmg .
3. Double click on faronics_teacher.pkg .
4. Follow the installation wizard to the Teacher channel option – Select a teacher channel
number (1 to 16,000). Choose a unique number for each lab or room.
5. If necessary select Advanced Options . This page allows you to set the following options for
when a teacher becomes a student from the Administer menu in the Teacher console:
Stealth Mode – If checked the student will not see the Insight icon and will not be able to
ask the teacher questions through Insight.
Allow student to change channels – If checked the student will be able to change channels.
This option is only recommended for 1:1 schools.
Disable keyboard monitoring – If checked the student’s keystrokes will not be logged.
Secure mode – If checked a teacher must enter a password to manage the student. We
recommend that the same password be used for the whole class or school. If you forget
the password, you must re-install the software
6. Click Continue . The installation location cannot be changed. Insight must be installed on
the system drive.
7. Click Install . The installer will ask you for the administrator password on that machine.
Type in the password and click OK .
8. After the installation is successful, click the Close button on the final page of the wizard.
9. If you want teachers to have the ability to change the channel, you must double-click on
the EnableChannelSelect utility located in the Utilites folder in the faronics_teacher.dmg .
To install Insight on a student computer
1. Navigate to the location where the download has been stored.
2. Go to the hard disk or network drive and double-click faronics_student.dmg.
3. Click Continue .
4. The installer appears. The Introduction screen is displayed. Click Continue .
5. The License screen appears. Click Continue . Click Agree to accept the license agreement.
6. The Options screen appears. Select the required options. Click Continue .
7. The Destination Select screen appears. Select the destination where Insight will be installed.
Click Continue .
8. The Installation Type screen appears. Click Install .
9. If the installation is successful, the message Install Succeeded is displayed. Click Close .
