1. GENERAL (GB)
The Wile-25 will provide moisture content information
for forage up to 70% when measuring bales of hay or
forage in a bucket. There are three different probes
available for W-25: a 50cm probe for measuring
conventional bales, a 90cm probe for large bales and
special dish type probe for measuring hay or silage in
a bucket.
The W-25 provides a bale density compensator that
adjusts the reading to compaction of the bale.
The range of measurement is from 10 to 73% for 45cm
and 90cm probes, and from 13 to 85% for dish probe.
Exceeding this range is indicated by displaying “LO” or
“HI”.
The meter has an average calculation feature for up to
99 results and possibility to adjust the reading of each
scale +/-10 percent. The power will be switched off
automatically after the moisture reading is displayed
about ten seconds.
The use of meter is very simple, all settings you have
made are stored and automatically used on
successive tests. Just depress the Power button and
wait for moisture reading.
Since moisture contents may vary substantially from
one forage plant to the next within the same field, uou
should take and average several readings when
sampling individual bales to achieve optimum
accuracy. Also you should take readings on bales in
varying areas of terrain within the same field, i.e., hills,
low lying valleys, fence rows, etc.
1. Attach the probe to the W-25 and insert it to the
material to be tested.
2. Depress the Power button and check that the
displayed number corresponds to the attached probe,
change if necessary.
3. With probes W-251 and W-252 check the density
setting and change if necessary.
4. Wait for moisture reading, power switches off
automatically in ten seconds after test.
Probe number and description
1.
W-251; It is 50cm in length and used mainly
for measuring rectangular bales.
2. W-252: It is 90cm in length; used mainly for
large round bales.
3. W-253; this unit is a dish type probe and
used mainly for measuring hay or silage in a
plastic bucket.
Attach probe to the meter. Insert probe into the bale
(bucket if using the W-253). Depress the P (Power)
