I. FOREWORD
These instructions for use are valid for the LARYVOX
®
OLFACTORY TUBE smelling aid.
The instructions for use serve to inform the physician, nursing staff and patient/user in order to
ensure technically correct handling.
Please read the instructions for use carefully before using the product for the first time!
II. INTENDED USE
The LARYVOX
®
OLFACTORY TUBE smelling aid allows laryngeal surgery patients to smell.
III. WARNINGS
The LARYVOX
®
OLFACTORY TUBE smelling aid is a single-patient product and is thus
intended exclusively for one-time or repeated use in one individual patient.
IV. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The smelling aid consists of a flexible plastic tube, which can be moved in different directions.
One end of the smelling aid has a detachable mouthpiece. A 15 mm UNI-COMBI-adapter (15-
/22 mm) is located at the other end.
A silicone tracheostoma mask is also included in the scope of delivery.
V. INSTRUCTIONS
The LARYVOX
®
OLFACTORY TUBE smelling aid can be used in various ways:
Use with tracheostoma mask ➊
Connect the tracheostoma mask with the adapter of the LARYVOX
®
OLFACTORY TUBE
smelling aid.
Put the mouthpiece of the LARYVOX
®
OLFACTORY TUBE smelling aid into your mouth.
Press the tracheostoma mask onto your tracheostoma, in order to create an airtight seal.
Breath through the nose.
Use with the base plate / tracheostomy tube
A „hands-free“ firm connection to the tracheostoma can be established by connecting the base
plate ➋ or tracheostomy tube ➌ with the LARYVOX
®
OLFACTORY TUBE smelling aid.
VI. CLEANING
The smelling aid has to be thoroughly cleaned with clear water after each use.
For reasons of hygiene, regular replacement is recommended, especially if residues have
formed in the convolutions of the smelling aid and cannot be removed by rinsing.
VII. SERVICE LIFE
Do not use the smelling aid if it is damaged or if there are residues/soiling that cannot be
removed by rinsing.
VIII. LEGAL NOTICES
The manufacturer Andreas Fahl Medizintechnik-Vertrieb GmbH will not accept any liability
for damages caused by unauthorised product alterations, by repairs not performed by the
manufacturer or by improper handling, care (cleaning/disinfection) and/or storage of the
products in violation of the provisions of these instructions for use.
Should a serious adverse event occur in connection with this product of Andreas Fahl
Medizintechnik-Vertrieb GmbH, this is to be reported to the manufacturer and the competent
authority of the Member State in which the user and/or patient are domiciled.
