Identifying the Management Interfaces
The ARX-2000 provides the following management interfaces:
• Console. Serial console interface for connecting a console terminal.
Labeled CONSOLE on the back of the switch.
• Management. 10/100/1000 Ethernet interface for connecting an
out-of-band (OOB) management station. Labeled MGMT on the back of
the switch.
Both interfaces are identified in the following figure.

During the initial-boot process described in this chapter, you can access only
the serial (CONSOLE) interface. After completing the initial-boot process,
you can access the OOB management interface (MGMT). For more
information, see
Connecting the OOB Management Interface, on page 3-19 .
Connecting the Console Interface
Set the following console-terminal parameters to match those on the
serial-console interface:
• 9600 baud rate (default)
• XON-XOFF flow control
• 8 data bits
• 1 stop bit parity
Connect a console terminal to the serial console interface (RJ-45) on the
back panel. An RJ-45 to DB9 adapter is included in the installation kit if you
want to connect to your management station’s serial DB9 interface.
