Troubleshooting
Observation Problem Solution
There is no power to the fan
The isolation switch may be on off
The speed control is turned off
Loose electrical connection
Check isolation switch
Turn speed control on
Check wiring and correct problem
There is power to the fan
but it is not working
Loose electrical connections
The voltage setting is too low
Check wiring and correct problems
with connections. Pay special attention
to the wiring in the junction box
Increase the speed setting
There is power to the fan
but it hums and does not turn
The capacitor may be worn out
Soot makes the axial vane/impeller stick
Check capacitor and replace if necessary
Clean the fan
The fan seems to work fine,
but there is not enough draught
The fan may be undersized
The capacitor may be worn out
The flue is damaged/blocked
Replace with a larger fan
Check capacitor and replace if necessary
Check the flue (chimney sweep)
The fan vibrates
