5.2 MMA welding
5.2.1 Connecting the electrode holder and workpiece lead
CAUTION
Risk of crushing and burns!
When changing stick electrodes there is a risk of crushing and burns!
• Wear appropriate and dry protective gloves.
• Use an insulated pair of tongs to remove the used stick electrode or to move welded work-
pieces.
The signal lights above the welding current sockets show the welding current polarity (+/-), depending on
the electrode type selected at the machine control.
Use the welding current polarity push-button (pole reversal) to reverse the welding current polarity (+/-)
without having to change the electrode holder or workpiece lead

. This reversal can also
be effected using a suitable remote control (PWS).
The polarity cannot be reversed during welding.
