The CEA-708 test message will not be inserted if communications Port C mode is
set to “608 Receive In” or “CDP Receive In”.
3.4.3.6.
VANC Dolby Line
The VANC Dolby Line Select control is used when the user wants to insert Dolby Metadata data into
the VANC of the HD-SDI output. This control selects which line of the VANC to insert the Dolby
Metadata packets. The range of this control includes lines 7 to 24 inclusive.
3.4.3.7.
VANC Dolby DID
The VANC Dolby DID control is used when the user wants to insert Dolby Metadata data into the VANC
of the HD-SDI output. This control defines the Data ID (DID) and Secondary Data ID (SDID) that are
used to identify Dolby Metadata packets The DID is programmable from 45 to 5F (hexadecimal
values). The SDID is programmable from 01 to 09. The factory default DID:SDID settings are 45:01.
The settings in sections 3.4.3.6 and 3.4.3.7 have no effect unless serial port C is
configured for “Dolby Meta In”. Refer to section 3.6.1.1.
3.4.3.8.
Broadcast Flag Packet Insert
The “Broadcast Flag” is a VANC packet for signaling copy protection that can be inserted into HD-
SDI. It is used to restrict the recording or copying of content.
3.4.3.9.
VANC Scrubber
The default behaviour of the HD9084 is to alter the DID/SDIDs of upstream CDPs to change them to
“marked-for-deletion” packets after reading their contents. They are no longer CDPs once the
DID/SDID is altered, and will be ignored by downstream caption equipment, but these marked-for-
deletion packets will remain encoded in VANC. The HD9084 then inserts new CDPs on the video
output.
Some customers expressed an interest in removing this data from VANC entirely. This is the purpose of
the VANC Scrubber. The VANC Scrubber cleans-up the VANC area by removing upstream CDPs,
marked-for deletion packets and start and end marker packets.
When enabled, the VANC Scrubber adds 1 line of delay to the video. Many
broadcast customers find this objectionable. For this reason, we recommend
leaving this feature off unless there is a specific need to use it.
3.4.4.
