Infrared (FIR) (Win98SE)
Enabling the FIR mode for your Infrared con-
nection is a two part process.
Infrared (FIR) - B
IOS Setup
1. You will need to enable the FIR mode
from the BIOS before you install the
driver.
2. Restart your computer and as it starts up
press (you may need to hold for a few
seconds) the
Ctrl + Alt + S keys together
in order to enter the Bios Setup screen.
3. Use the Alt key to activate the menus.
4. Use the left and right arrow keys (
ÅÆ
) at
the bottom right side of the keyboard (or
the mouse cursor) to move across to the
Components menu.
5. Use the up and down arrow keys (
ÇÈ
) to
select COM Ports .
6. Press Enter to select the Sub-Menu .
7. Use the tab key to select Mode Setting
for COM B .
8. Use the up and down arrow keys ( ÇÈ ) to
select Fast IR .
9. Press the Space bar to select the Fast IR
setting. There should be a bullet in the
parentheses as follows (•).
10. Press tab again until you have selected (it
should be white) OK and press Enter .
11. Make sure you have still activated the
menus (if not press Alt ) and use the cur-
sor keys to select Exit .
12. Select Save and Exit and press Enter .
13. Press Enter again to exit the BIOS setup
screen and to reboot the computer.
14. Windows will now Startup.
Infrared (FIR) - Win98SE
Setup
1. On restart Windows will then tell you
“New Hardware Found” and begin to
install the drivers for you.
2. When you are prompted ‘Please insert
the disk labeled “Windows 98 Second
Edition CD-ROM” and then click OK’
