• When the log is supported along its entire length as illustrated in Fig.I, it is cut from the
top (overbuck) to avoid cutting earth.
• When log is supported on one end, as illustrated in Fig.J, and follow the step 1 & 2 to
cut:
1: 1
st
cut- underbuck (1/3 diameter) to avoid splintering
.
2: 2
nd
cut- overbuck (2/3 diameter) to meet 1st cut (to avoid pinching).
• When the log is supported on both ends, as illustrated in Fig.K, and follow the step 1 & 2
to cut:
1: 1

cut- overbuck (1/3 diameter) to avoid splintering.
2: 2

cut- underbuck (2/3 diameter) to meet 1st cut (to avoid pinching).
• when Cross-cutting/bucking on a slope, always stand on the uphill side of the log, as
illustrated in fig.L. When “cutting through”, to maintain complete control, release the
cutting pressure near the end of the cut without relaxing your grip on the chain saw
handles. Don’t let the chain contact the ground. After completing the cut, wait for the
saw chain to stop before your move the chain saw. Always stop motor before moving
from tree to tree.
Working safely
• make sure that no one can be injured by falling branches and trees.
• Only the required personnel should be in the working area.
• Kee the area around the tree fee and tidy to ensure footing for the operators.
• Keep all escape routed free and tidy to ensure that the working area can be evacuated
quickly.do not carry out any felling work in strong wind , poor weather or bad visibility.
• Kee a distance of at least 2 and 1/2 lengths from next working area.
• Never start the chain saw before the guide bar, saw chain and sprocket cover have been
fitted correctly.
• Do not cut any wood that is lying on the ground and do not attempt to saw roots that are
protruding from the soil. Never allow the saw chain to come into contact with the soil as
this could blunt the saw chain.
• If the chain saw accidently comes into contact with a solid object, turn off the motor
immediately and inspect the saw for damage.
• Service the chain saw carefully. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts and any other damage that may impair the chain saw’s operation. If
damaged, have it repaired in Service Centre before use. Many accidents are caused by
poorly maintained tools.
• Keep the chain saw in good working order to prevent injury.
• If the chain saw has been dropped, check for significant damage or defects and get it
repaired.
• Do not use the chain saw while standing on a ladder or with unsteady footing.
• Do not be tempted into making a poorly considered cut. You could endanger yourself
and others.
• Changing your working position regularly. Using the chain saw for a long time can
lead to vibration-related circulation disorders of the hands. You can extend the usage
duration by using appropriate gloves or by taking regular breaks. Note that any personal
