100-120V, 50-60 Hz for
US/Canada/Japan Installations*
220-240V, 50-60 Hz
for
UK and European Installations
*CDA maximum output is limited to 400W/bridged channel for reduced A.C. mains voltage of Japan
Installations, unless the CDA has been specified for 100Vac input.
Refer to
Section 2
for additional safety details.
• Verify that system interconnections are in accordance with standard installation scheme illustrated in
Figure 19
and installation notes, above.
• For MRI installations, verify that the Helmholtz coils wiring is routed through a room R.F. filter. Note that the
fluxgate magnetometer cables also connect through the filter.
• Confirm the Euroblock connectors for the Helmholtz Coil connections are configured correctly for the coil wiring
and system configuration.
• Ensure that the Helmholtz coils are properly installed and connected.
• Verify that the power jumper cable from the MXA Controller to CDA has been installed. NOTE: The CDA is
controlled by the MXA switched A.C. output; it is NOT to be plugged directly into a wall socket or other
unswitched A.C. source.
5.2.2 Onsite Setups and Electrical Interconnects
Note that the MACS/D power switch (
Figure 5, (18)
) remains
OFF
until otherwise indicated.
5.2.2.1 System Probe:
Verify correct alignment of the system fluxgate probe with the compensation coil axes.
5.2.2.2 Survey Probes:
A magnetic field survey system consisting of two survey probes with logging capability is helpful although not
essential for system setup. Its primary utility is for evaluating and monitoring final installed system attenuation of
interfering signals. If used, the location of the survey probes must meet the following criteria:
1)
Location of each probe must be outside of the critical fringe field of any large magnets. Satisfactory
locations are anywhere that observed fringe fields are at or below 90% of the saturation level of the
probe (± 0.9mT/9.0G).
2)
The probes must not be in close proximity (less than 0.5m) to large ferromagnetic objects, conducting
objects, nor to the compensating coils themselves, nor within 1m of any power transformer.
3)
One of the survey probes must be located within the Protected Volume (PV, see
Figure 2
) of the
compensating coils, separated from the system probe by at least 10cm (4in.), to avoid unwanted
magnetic coupling of probe core switching transients. The reference probe must be located at least 2m
(6.5ft) outside of the Operational Volume (OV, see
Figure 2
) enclosed by the coil sets.
5.2.2.3 Interconnects:
• Connect MACS/D system to suitable A.C. power source.
• Connect an Ethernet cable from the MXA Controller to a computer through an Ethernet switch or router for
initial testing. Direct Ethernet connection to the setup computer is also supported, see
Section 4.5.1
.
