A vacuum turbine sucks the pellets from the storage
room, which may be up to 20 m away, into the pellet
hopper on the boiler. The pellet hopper has a capacity
of up to 215 kg.
The dosing screw doses the pellets as they are
conveyed from the pellet hopper, in order to avoid
overfilling the rotary valve. This way, pellets do not
need to be cut. This protects the sealing edges and
enables quiet operation. The rotary valve separates
the pellet hopper from the combustion chamber to
prevent back burning in the pellet hopper. The stoker
screw pushes the pellets into the combustion chamber.
The pellets are burnt on the grate and the ash is tipped
at regular intervals from the grate onto the ash screw
which lies below it. Beneath the grate and the heat
exchanger, two ash screws convey the ash to a
detachable ash bin.
In the refractory-lined combustion chamber, a hot and
complete burnout occurs before the combustion gases
in the heat exchanger transfer the heat to the heating
water. The movement of the turbulators cleans the
heat exchangers automatically once a day.
The flue gas recirculation mounted on the boiler keeps
the temperatures on the grate low in order to prevent
the formation of slag and preserve the grate.
After short breaks in combustion, the refractory-lined
combustion chamber remains hot enough that any
new fuel which is fed in can be ignited by the remaining
embers. The ignition fan only needs to be activated
after long periods without combustion.
The lambda probe, in combination with the variable-
speed draught fan, ensures high efficiency.
