Ring-configured Networks for Protection

The MXU makes ring network protection possible.

In the figure below, data is sent in both directions (clockwise, Tx_D, and

counter-clockwise, Tx_E) in the ring network but only received in one. If

connection is lost between two sites an error signal will activate the MXU

to switch to receive from the intact part of the ring (Rx_D coming from radio

terminal D in this case).
