OPTIMAL WORKING SPEED
The suggested operating speed ranges between 5 km/h and 8 km/h. The speed is driven by the
following factors: soil moisture, soil structure, soil characteristics and soil depth. The maximum
operating speed may not exceed 8 km/h. Slower is always better and more consistent seed depth
placement will result.
EXCESSIVE PLANTING SPEEDS WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING NEGATIVE EFFECTS:
1. Unacceptable deep furrows. With higher speeds, excessive amounts of soil is forced away from
the planting line.
2. Depth placement of seed is adversely affected. High speeds can cause the tine unit to move
unconsistently around in the soil.
NB: REDUCE THE SPEED WHILE THE PLANTER MOVES OVER ROCKY AREAS.
PROCEDURE FOR SETTING THE PRESSURE IN THE ACCUMULATOR
•
Drop the planter’s wings into the planting position.
•
Turn the selector valve from
Wheel
to
Tine.
•
Open the ball valve so that the handle faces in the direction of the incoming pipe.
•
Activate the tractor valve as if to lift the planter.
•
Close the ball valve when the pressure meter registers the desired pressure and disable the
tractor valve.
•
Recommended oil pressure accumulator: Lands with shallow reefs and rocky boulders 5 to 7
MPa.
•
Deep fractured soil, heavy clay soil and sandy soil, use 8 - 11 Mpa.
The accumulator must be tested every 36 months,
see Addendum A and Addendum B regarding accumulator service.
