3.2.5.5 Removing the Platen

Remove the printer mechanism from the lower case, as described in Section 3.2.4.

Remove the 2 CBS (M3 X 8) screws that secure the platen cover to the left and right frames. Remove

the platen cover.

Set the gap adjustment lever to 6.

Remove the printhead, as described in Section 32.1.

Remove the ribbon mask holder from the carnage assembly.

Rotate the left platen shaft

and slide it out of the frame to the left.

Rotate the right platen shaft holder and slide it out of the frame to the right.

Assembly Note

When you insert the platen on the frame, make sure the platen gear meshes with the combination gear.
Do not force it into place. Mesh the gears into position first, then insert the platen into position.
