The configuration you define through SETUP is stored in a
special area of memory called CMOS RAM. This memory is
backed up by a battery, so it will not be erased when you turn off
or reset the computer. Whenever you reboot the computer, it
checks the settings, and if it discovers a difference between the
information in the CMOS RAM and your system’s
configuration, it prompts you to run SETUP. You see a message
such as the following:
CMOS memory size mismatch
RUN SETUP UTILITY
Press <Fl> to RESUME
Press Fl to run SETUP and correct the setting.
Starting the SETUP Program

start the SETUP program, make sure there is no diskette in
the diskette drive; then turn on your computer. (If the computer
is already on, press the
RESET
button on the front panel to
reset it.)
After the computer completes its self test, you see the following
prompt:
Press <Del> to start SETUP
As soon as you see this message, press the
Del
key. If you do not
press
Del
within five seconds, the computer starts loading the
operating system and you will not be able to run SETUP. If this
happens, reset the computer and try again.
You see the following options:
Start operating system
Run SETUP
