To remove the top plate, first lift the plate 

and set the support hinges (refer to the 

“Lifting  the  Top  Plate”  section  on  page 

15  for  instructions).  The  top  plate  is 

connected  to  the  firebox  via  two  hinge 

mechanisms and tensioned safety cable.

For each hinge, remove the two mounting 

screws using a 5/16” socket. The mount-

ing cradle flanges are slighlty overbent to

ensure the hinges remain connected to the top 

plate after the screws have been removed. When 

ready, the hinge base will need to slide inward to 

release from the cradle (refer to Figure 41).

The top plate support system uses a tensioned 

safety cable to establish hinge stability. Should 

the top plate need to be removed, disconnect the 

cable retainer by removing the two T20 screws 

(see Figure 42).
WARNING:

 Always ensure tensioned safety ca-

ble is attached to the top plate.

The stainless steel burner pan will need to be checked seasonally for corrosion and foreign debris. Ensure 

no material is obstructing the segregated pilot area or air servicing channels as illustrated in Figure 99. Re-

move the burner for inspection.
To remove the burner, first remove the door frame and glass (refer to page 17 and page 18 for de-

tails). Remove the nine (9) screws securing the burner platform using a T20 screwdriver (see Figure 43). 
Remove the pilot fence by hand taking care not to damage the ceramic fiber gasket (see Figure 44). This 

gasket is used to prevent drafts from interfering with the pilot flame so replace if damaged.
Remove the four (4) screws securing the burner pan using a T20 screwdriver. Rotate the burner upward 

and lift out (see Figure 45).
