4.6 MAC Address Filter
Click on the
MAC Address Filter
link under the
Filter
menu. The MAC address filter
section can be used to filter network access by machines based on the unique MAC
addresses of their network adapter(s). It is most useful to prevent unauthorized
wireless devices from connecting to your network. A MAC address is a unique ID
assigned by the manufacturer of the network adapter.
Enable MAC Address Filter:
You may use this feature to filter the wired and
wireless clients. Place a check in this box to enable this feature.
Mode
: Select a filter setting from the drop-down list. When
only allow listed
machines
is selected, only computers with MAC addresses listed in the MAC
Address List are granted network access. When
only deny listed machines
is
selected, any computer with a MAC address listed in the MAC Address List is
refused access to the network.
Filter Wireless Clients
: Place a check in this box if you would like to filter wireless
clients.
Filter Wired Clients
: Place a check in this box if you would like to filter wired clients.
MAC Address:
Specify the MAC address of the node which you would like to filter.
Copy your PCs MAC address:
Click on this button if you would like to filter the MAC
address for the PC you are logged on to.
Computer Name:
Specify a name for the specified MAC address.
Click on the
Save
button to insert the entry into the MAC address list.
