USING THE VENTILATION UNIT
It is v ery simple t o use the ven tilation unit . Most of the time it needs no a tten tion. The most impor tant
functions ar e:
Fan speed The re are fo ur f an spe eds to ch oos e fr om on th e c ont rol pa nel . S im plifi ed thr ee of t hes e
speeds are used;
normal spee d,
which is specified by the installer and on which the
unit runs most of the time;
boosting sp eed
which is bigger than the normal speed and
is used for t emporar y airing and
away sp eed
, which is used when nobody is at home .

Aft er heating The t emperatur e of the supply air blown in to the r ooms can be chosen from f our steps
on the con trol panel . The af ter hea ter is on if an y of the four LED ligh ts indicating af ter
heating is lit . NOTE! Not ev ery unit is equipped with af ter hea ting.
Heat r ecov ery The is an on/off swit ch for the hea t rec over y on the con trol panel . If the LED ligh t is lit,
the heat r ecov ery is on. Hea t is rec over ed from the e xhaust air when the heat r ecov ery
is on. It is c onsequently sensible t o keep the heat r ecov ery on almost alw ays . It is pos-
sible to tur n off the heat r ecov ery, i.e . in summer time when it is war m outside. I t is
sensible to tur n off the heat r ecov ery a t night in summer time t o let the cool nigh t air
flow inside . W hen the heat r ecov ery is tur n on for the da y it wor ks as cooling r ecov ery.
The r ed servic e LED light is on when it r eminds of filter changes and flashes when it
indicates a pr oblem. See S ervic e / Alar m indication on page 12.

GENERAL INFORM ATION ABOUT VENTILATION
The basic func tion of the ven tilation unit is to maintain good indoor air qualit y. W hen the ven tilation is plan -
ned the engineer calculates how big the air amoun ts need to be in order to get sufficien t ven tilation. The
installer specifies the nor mal fan speed for the unit when he installes the unit and calibrat es the air flo ws at
ever y ter minal.
VENTILATION DIC TIONARY
Outside air The fr esh air flow fr om the outside to the v entila tion unit is called outside air.
Supply air The air flo w from the v entila tion unit to the r ooms is called supply air.
Exhaust air The air flo w from the r ooms to the v entila tion unit is called exhaust air .
Jäteilma The air flo w that blo ws out fr om the ven tilation unit is called w aste air .
Heat e xchanger The hea t exchanger is a c omponent of the v entila tion unit that car ries hea t energy
from the e xhaust air flow t o the supply air flow . Enerven t ven tilation units ar e equip-
ped with a rota ting heat e xchanger . The r otating hea t exchanger is a wheel made of
thin metal foil , which stor es the heat fr om the exhaust air and car ries it t o the
supply air. T he heat e xchanger pr even ts the war mth fr om the rooms fr om escaping
with the wast e air flow .

after hea ting is realiz ed with an electr ical heater . All units ar e not equipped with after
heating .
ECC ECC is the v entila tion unit’s c ontr ol. EC C is an abbrevia tion of Electr onic Climate
Con trol .
