Table 6-9, Battery Alarms: Classifications, Causes and Corrections
6.2.4 Battery Alarms
The Intelligent CableUPS detects a wide array of battery alarms and displays the type of active alarm in the Smart Display
screen and the severity of alarm (e.g., Major/Minor) by means of the Inverter Module LEDs.

Probable Cause of Alarm
Corrective Action
NO BATTERIES
Major
Detected the absence of batteries (alarm inactive
when battery capacity or number of battery strings is
set to 0)
1. Check Batt Breaker
2. Check Connections
3. Check Bat,tery Fuse
LOW BATT
VOLTS
Major Battery voltages below 1.833V/cell
1. Check Battery Voltage and compare to
Displayed Battery Voltage
2. Check for correct battery capacity on Set-up
Menu.
3. Check for AC Input Voltage present
4. Open the Battery Circuit Breaker and
5. Pull out the Inverter Module
6. Verify Inverter Module securely connected.
7. Re-seat the Inverter Module
8. Turn the Battery Circuit Breaker back on.
9. Replace Inverter Module
HIGH BATT
VOLTS
Major
36 Volt battery string above 45.0Vdc or, 48V
battery string above 60.0Vdc
1. Check Batteries
2. Check Charger settings
3. Replace Inverter
BATTERY EOD
Major Output batteries dropped below the low voltage
shutdown level (low battery disconnect)
1. Restore AC Input
2. Connect Generator
BATTERY FAIL
(NON-LATCHING)
Major
Battery voltage drops below 1.75V/cell while
in standby mode, battery exceeds 2.5V/cell, or
batteries not detected.
1. Check Batteries
2. Replace Batteries
BATT TEMP
PROBE
Minor
Remote Temperature Sensor failure or Inverter
Board failure
1. Inspect RTS sensor, wire and connector to
see if there is an intermittent connection
2. Replace with known good sensor
3. Check Battery Temperature Display Reading
4. Check for Alarm
5. Replace Inverter Module
REFRESH /
BATT REFRESH
ALARM
Minor Battery Temperature Exceeded 60°C
1. Check Charger Settings
2. Check Batteries
3. Check Battery Temperature
X BAL STAGE
Minor
Stage 0 and 1 are normal. Stage 2 shows that
the batteries are not of similar capacity. Stage 3-5
trigger check battery alarm to show that there is a
major capacity imbalance
1. Check Batteries
2. Replace Batteries
