SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
EMS and the distributor of this product accept no liability for direct or consequential injury or damage
resulting from improper use, arising in particular through non-observance of the operating instructions,
or improper preparation and maintenance.
Only use this product for the intended indications. Carefully read these operating instructions before
using the product. This also applies to any product used with this system. Failure to observe the operating
instructions may result in the patient or user suffering serious injury or the product being damaged.
Do not use this product in the presence of inflammable anaesthetics or gases.
This product must only be used by trained and qualified personnel.
In rare cases the high frequency oscillations can break activated instruments or files, particularly
when not manipulated properly. Place a rubber dam before treatment to prevent the patient from
swallowing or inhaling parts of a fractured instrument, or a loose instrument. If a rubber dam cannot be
placed, instruct the patient to breathe through the nose during treatment.
To avoid heat damage on the tooth, never work dry unless the instrument is specifically designed
and indicated as such. The tip of the activated instrument heats up immediately when used dry. The
instrument must not be activated during more than 10% of a maximum working time of 10 minutes with
the "Dry Work" function. An incorrect use may also cause a deterioration of the handpiece.
Make sure to always sterilize handpieces and instruments before use. Non-sterile handpieces
and instruments may cause bacterial or viral infections. Please follow the recommendations of the
"Reprocessing Instructions" manual delivered with your product regarding the procedures for cleaning,
disinfecting and sterilizing of the components.
Always examine your Piezon system for damage before commencing treatment. Damaged acces-
sories or a damaged product must not be used and must be replaced. Use original EMS spare parts and
accessories only.
Listen for a noise change when the instrument is activated to detect a possible loosening of the
instrument in the handpiece. This also applies to file holders.
